Sbcc to Ucsb Transfer Requirements

UCSB admits transfer students who apply for a junior-level transfer only for the fall term. Students interested in a second transfer should check our transfer requirements and prepare for the junior level transfer. Students who have achieved higher status are not eligible for transfer to UCSB and may refer to the Graduate Studies Division for graduate degrees. If you are applying for Humanities, you should take as many key preparation courses as possible before moving on to making normal progress towards graduation. Some performance majors — including Dance B.A. and B.F.A., Music B.M. and Theater B.F.A. — also require an audition. The selective majors at this college include all majors in biology, mathematics, economics, and physics – these majors require specific courses, which are listed below. Important Note: This is a minimum requirement. It is recommended to take as many preparatory courses as possible before changing to ensure rapid progress towards completion. The minimum admission requirements for non-residents are very similar to those for California residents. Please contact the admissions office on one of the university campuses.

However, in all cases, non-residents must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.8 or higher in all college courses transferable by CU. Universities can and do change their admission and selection requirements. Be sure to meet with an advisor at least once per semester to review and update your Student Education Plan (HSP). Note: Meeting the minimum UC requirements does not guarantee admission to UC sites. Admission criteria vary greatly by campus and major. Contact your advisor or a UC campus representative to learn more about GPA and courses that may be required for admission to certain sites and majors. Students must meet all CSU general education width requirements outlined above for a total of 39 semester units. The CSU General Education Breadth model must be completed with a GPA of 2.0 or better to obtain the certificate. Achievement marks in courses used to meet the UHC general education model are allowed.

Complete 60 semester units or 90 quarters of UC transferable college credit with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.4 for California residents and at least 2.8 for non-residents (no more than 14 semesters or 21 quarterly units can be taken Pass/Not Pass*). A selective average for most majors is 3.4 and above. Course requirements refer to the courses you must take at SBCC before being transferred to the host institution. For example: English, mathematics, important related courses and other general education courses. The Student Transfer Outcomes Reform Act (Senate Bill 1440, now codified in California Education Code Sections 66746-66749, www.sb1440.org) guarantees admission to a California State University (CSU) campus to any community college student pursuing an associate`s degree for transfer, a newly established variant of associate degrees traditionally offered at a California community college. The Associate in Arts for Transfer (AA-T) or Associate in Science for Transfer (AS-T) is designed for students who wish to pursue a bachelor`s degree in a similar major on a CSU campus. Students who complete these degrees (AA-T or AS-T) are guaranteed admission to the CSU system, but not to a specific campus or major. To earn one of these degrees, students must complete at least 60 mandatory semester units of CSU transferable courses with a minimum GPA of 2.0. Students transferring to a CSU campus that accepts AA-T or AS-T must not complete more than 60 units after transfer to earn a bachelor`s degree (unless the major is a major designated as a “high unit”).

This degree may not be the best option for students who intend to transfer to a particular CSU campus or to a university or college that is not part of the CSU system. Students should consult an advisor when planning the degree for more information about admission and transfer requirements for the university. If you wish to move to one of the UCSB selective majors listed below, certain requirements must be met prior to transfer. UCSB considers 9 holistic assessment factors to assess your performance and personal qualities in the context of the opportunities and/or challenges you have encountered. If you meet the admission requirements with a high grade point average, you will be competitive in the admission process at UCSB.

TAG and SBCC schools understand that goals change. Students who submit a TAG are not required to move on to four-year college or university. Transferred students do not need to attend the TAG to be considered for admission. If the requirements are specified as a sequence throughout the year, students should be encouraged to complete the entire year before changing, not just a semester or term. Since all UC campuses except Berkeley and Merced are on a quarterly schedule, the combination of semesters and terms can pose challenges in meeting a one-year requirement.
